MusicUNTOLD (component of Long Beach Central Area Association) is a community partner of Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. MusicUNTOLD advocate for diversity in classical music. LA Chamber orchestra donated tickets to LBCAA for April 21, 2018 LA Chamber Orchestra performance at Alex Theatre in Glendale, Ca. Karina Canellakis was conductor. The program opened with US premiere of 'Secret Forest' by Dai Fujikura. During intermission, I briefly chatted with Dai Fujikura while he was visiting in the donors lounge. See pic 1. After the concert, I went back stage to greet cellist Andrew Shulman. Andrew is also on faculty at USC Thornton School of Music and instructor for Los Angeles Orchestra Fellowship (two year intensive training for minority string players). See pic 2. While backstage, I briefly chatted with horn player Adedeji Ogunfolu who was a replacement player. Adedeji was the first African American player I have personally seen perform with LA Chamber Orchestra. See pic 3. I did not have access to Karina Canellakis who has previously conducted the LA Chamber Orchestra although I saw her for the first time.
