February 8, 2018 attended LA Opera production of CANDIDE with retired music educator and Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles board member, Sandra Wheeler. CANDIDE is one of Sandra Wheeler's favorite operas and she has seen at least five different productions in multiple cities. I was most impressed with the singing of "Cunegonde" by coloratura soprano Eren Morley. Considering this is African American Heritage Month, i asked Sandra Wheeler if she ever attended a performance with an African American singing the role of "Cunegonde" and she quickly responded NO.
