GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Grand Rapids Symphony's 2014-15 Classical Series features five premieres of new works, welcomes world-famous artists to DeVos Performance Hall, and says farewell to music director David Lockington.

Pianist Stephen Hough, winner of MacArthur Foundation "genius" grant, and clarinetist David Shifrin, awarded an Avery Fisher Prize, are among the guests for a season of new music by Phillip Sawyers and Adolphus Hailstork, both of whom have collaborated previously with the orchestra.


Hailstork's Overture is a farewell to Lockington, who steps down after 16 seasons as music director to become music director laureate of the Grand Rapids Symphony.
