Eric Conway: 'Choir to sing for ceremony surrounding bicentennial celebration of War of 1812'

Dr. Eric Conway, Director, Morgan State University Choir, www.msuchoir.org, sends this news:

Hello all,

Allow me to announce another exciting event for the Morgan State University Choir.  On Monday, June 18, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at Fort McHenry, Governor O'Malley will host a special ceremony with representatives from the British and Canadian governments, to mark the 200th anniversary of the United States declaration of war starting the War of 1812.  This ceremony will focus on the two centuries of peace enjoyed by our nations.  It is during this battle, that the our national anthem was composed by Francis Scott Key.  Video prepared by Barack Obama and the Canadian head of state will be broadcast live.  The event will be streamed live on the internet as well.  At the request of the governor, the Morgan State University Choir, will be the only American choral ensemble represented at this very international ceremony.  What an honor!

In addition to the above event, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 6:30 p.m., the choir will sing for a special Flag day ceremony at Fort McHenry where an estimated 5,000 people will be in attendance!
