[Althea Waites on Cambria 1141; Rebecca Eaddy]

John Malveaux of MusicUNTOLD.com sends this review of a program including two composers featured at AfriClassical.com, Adolphus C. Hailstork and Margaret A. Bonds:

“Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc & Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presented The Twenty-Seventh Commemorative Concert in honor of Dr. MLK Jr. on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Trinity Baptist Church, Los Angeles, Ca.

The concert featured soprano Rebecca Eaddy, 2011 vocal winner of NANM national competition (accompanied by pianist Althea Waites), The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles (Charles Dickerson conductor), The Alpha Kappa Alpha Chorus (Dr. Hansonia Caldwell director), The Delta Sigma Theta Choraliers (Danellen Joseph director), The United Methodist Male Chorus (Perry V Hayes director) and instrumentalist Carolyn Kimble-Singleton (piano), Alpha Snell (piano), Perry V. Hayes (organ and piano), and Dr. Hansonia Caldwell (piano and organ).

Rebecca Eaddy exhibited poise and promising skills singing composers Wolfgang A. Mozart, Adolphus Hailstork, Undine Smith Moore, Moses Hogan, and Margaret Bonds.

The highlight of the evening was soprano Jennifer George (AKA) singing "My Soul's Been Anchored in De Lord" (spiritual arrangement by Glenn Jones) and backing from the combined choirs (The Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Choir) and ICYOLA.”

Thanks for the news about the Martin Luther King program. I believe that one of the numbers was my spiritual arrangement of FIX ME, JESUS! Do I have the right program?
Gratefully,
