“At St. Paul’s Episcopal in Delray Beach on Sunday, music director Keith Paulson-Thorp has assembled a lineup of 11 musicians and the church’s choir in a benefit concert for the Caribbean nation, which has yet to make any significant recovery from the disaster. 'Whatever we raise here will be a great help, as the plight of the Haitian people has pretty well fallen off the radar for most Americans,' Paulson-Thorp wrote in an e-mail message. Sunday afternoon’s program is a feast of rarities, most of it by Haitian or Haitian-American composers. A string quartet by the Chevalier de Saint-George and chamber works by Ludovic Lamothe and Werner Jaegerhuber share the program with pieces by the pioneering American pianist Louis Moreau Gottschalk and the eminent African-American composer William Grant Still.

Also featured is contemporary work (Filter) by Daniel Bernard Roumain, a native of Margate whose Dancers, Dreamers and Presidents symphony premiered in Miami this past September, and pieces by Sydney Guillaume, Luc Beauliere, Aurora Francois and Julio Racine (Sonate Voudou Jazz). The concert begins at 3 p.m. at St. Paul’s, 188 S. Swinton Ave., near downtown Delray Beach. Admission is free, and a collection will be taken. Call (561) 278-6003 or visit http://www.stpaulsdelray.org. [Julio Racine, Ludovic Lamothe, William Grant Still and Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges are profiled at AfriClassical.com]
